【Witty】Zeitgeist Part.2【Wednesday】

In part.1, I introduced you to a movement called the “Zeitgeist Movement.” In this article, I want to introduce you to an interesting project named “The Venus Project” that initially was brought up in the Zeitgeist movie.

Before I start, I would like to make sure you know that the Zeitgeist movement and the Venus Project are created by two different people, and both of them do not have any relations with each other. The Venus Project was created by Jack Fresco who passed away at age 101 in May 2017.

The Zeitgeist movement was initiated by a person named Peter Joseph, who is well and alive.

Now, between these two, there seem to be no direct connections; however, the Zeitgeist movie introduces the Venus Project in it, so I decided to research about it a little more.

What is the Venus Project? Below is a translation from a Japanese wiki entry:

“It’s a non-commercial organization that aims to build a model for a future city. The project is based now in Venus, Florida. The main goal is to develop and expand the use of sustainable energy, make the energy consumed more efficient, keep the sustainability in the cities, automatize labor, overcome and abolish scarcity, dictatorship, and war. ”

So, what they aim to achieve is similar to what the Zeitgeist movement is aiming for. A bit like socialism with a hint of science fiction.

What caught my attention was that they have very few photos of the Venus Project. It struck me as suspicious, but on their website, people can check out seminars and lectures as well as tours inside the Venus Project, so it is at least, open to the public. If one of the readers gets a chance to go to Venus, Florida, please visit it and let me know! I’d love to hear about it. If you want to support what they are doing, you can click “Become a Volunteer” on their official website. If you are generous, you may also want to consider the option of clicking on “Donate.” Very ironic for an organization that is trying to abolish the monetary system, of course, it’s understandable because the current society is monetary-based. Everything costs to be maintained.
